It is sometimes difficult to avoid stress in our fast-paced world. Hitting the deadlines may often fuel our anxiety as we try to get things done. Our body has the ability to adapt to a certain period of time and the degree of stress it can handle.

There are many factors that can make us feel anxious and becoming aware of the things that fuel our anxiety can give us a hint on how to better handle ourselves.

Common things that contribute to anxiety:

  •       Trauma – can be acquired during childhood experiences, although, adults may also experience the same thing.
  •       Stress due to an illness – it can be outside of your control why you got sick but it happened.  
  •       Stress buildup – special events, deadlines, and even constant work without breaks can build up stress and burnout.
  •       Personality – our upbringing contributes a lot from our childhood development years which helps build our current personality when we grow up.
  •       Other mental health disorders – mental health disorders can be depression, PTSD, and more.
  •       Having blood relatives with an anxiety disorder – yes, it can also be genetic or anxiety runs in your family.
  •       Drugs or alcohol – are not a good habit to take, any misuse or withdrawal can make your anxiety worst.

Common Signs of Anxiety

Chronic anxiety is not good for the body and it can be detrimental to our health. But how do we know that we already feel anxious? Here are the signs and symptoms to become aware of whenever you feel anxious.

  •       Feeling nervous, restless or tense
  •       Having a sense of impending danger, panic, or doom
  •       Having an increased heart rate
  •       Breathing rapidly (hyperventilation)
  •       Sweating
  •       Trembling
  •       Feeling weak or tired
  •       Trouble concentrating or thinking about anything other than the present worry
  •       Having trouble sleeping
  •       Experiencing gastrointestinal (GI) problems
  •       Having difficulty controlling worry
  •       Having the urge to avoid things that trigger anxiety

  •       Connect More Friends – Socializing can promote oxytocin which is a relationship-building chemical from our body.
  •       Always Be Active – daily exercise helps you get away with anxiety. We are built to always sit neither in front of the computer nor on our smartphones.
  •       Eat Right – a balanced diet is essential to shield you away from anxiety.
  •       Humor – a healthy sense of humor with your co-workers or love ones can promote good vibes.
  •       Be mindful – practice your mind to not be wandering on the future or the past, but live and stay at the moment.
  •       Sleep Well – having a good night’s sleep promotes better concentration and mental clarity.
  •       Experience Nature – a good experience with nature can help you relax and feel energized.
